Vessel Sinks

Vessel Sinks have become quite popular in contemporary homes and are also found in more traditional homes.   They are usually made of glass, metal, stone or pottery. A vessel sink sits above the counter-top and has no support around it.   They are typically found in bathrooms but can be used in other areas throughout the home as well.  The Vessel bowl itself can be shallow or deep.  However, the deeper the bowl the less chance for the water to splash outside the bowl. . Due to their somewhat fragile exterior, they are primarily used to wash your hands.

In order to keep the sink to a standard height for most people, you must calculate the height of the cabinet plus the height of the bowl.  Scale and Proportion should be considered when you are contemplating  using a vessel sink and can affect the overall design and appearance.

Faucets for a vessel sink high neck faucets mounted to the cabinet or mounted to the wall overhanging the bowl.  For some Vessel sinks the faucet is included as part of the design of the sink itself. In order to prevent slow drainage, specialized sink drains are used for vessel sinks.

Vessel sinks are creative and artistic accents to your home.  They are both a functional necessity as well as a work of art, and can become quite the conversation piece.
